I haven't seen this posted anywhere else, save the Men's Tennis Forum, so take it with a pinch of salt. Srdjan Djokovic attacks TV commentatorDamir Dokic part 2! I just hope Beaker sees the same sense and slides his father out of the picture. I don't have much hope though, with younger brothers for Srdjan to push.

I had his mother as most likely to attack...

So the Williamses and the Serbs in one half, and Pova and all the Russians she owns in the other. How not surprising. I think Pova will actually make the damn final, unless Kuzzie manages to maintain her brain and beat her in the semis, since she is the vastly superior clay-courter. She also likely will meet Dinara Safina in the fourth round. Prospective Serena-Ana and Venus-Jankovic quarterfinals. Venus-Janky is becoming the new Serena-Justine (which was the new Serena-JCap) surefire grand slam encounter. However a dangerous potential fourth-round match for Serena against Patty Schnyder. I haven't even looked at the men's draw yet, still processing the women... As for the men: First rounder between Fed and Querrey, maybe Sam can make that competitive based on his impressive run in Monte Carlo. Likely Fed-Ancic third rounder. I don't see anyone preventing Fed from making the quarters. Probable Fed-Davydenko semi. Ok I'm irritated that Djoko ended up in Rafa's half. Beat that kid down, Rafito! Actually I'd love it if Ice Cold Willy Canas scored the upset over Beaker in the third round (I can dream.) And Nadal will have his hands full if he meets Fat Daveed in the quarters Whooo! Much to ponder...

I stopped at my tennis club today for a lesson and learned that Lee Carter, a man who practices there, is going to the Beijing 2008 Paralympics. I've watched him play and the guy is just ridiculously good. He's ranked #1 in Canada. I'm so excited that I'll actually be able to follow someone I know at the Olympics.

There was a lot of craziness between Anna-Lena, Megan Shaugnessy and their mutual coach. Who was also Megan's husband. He became Megan's coach when she was a young teen 13, maybe 12 and there were never any allegations about inappropriate conduct but I always eye relationships like that w/ suspicion. Anyway I think they are divorced now and he went on to sue Anna Lena for some sort of breach of contract. I'm not sure how that ended up but it was a mess!

Stella Artois tourny tomorrow!
Safin will up against a British boy. That'll get a full court. Gasquet is there, has a bye for the first round though. Ancic, Fat Dave, Mahut (finalist last year), Hewitt, PHM, Tipsy. It's a good lineup.

I'm excited for the Stella tourny too! Rafa's side of the draw is brutal. Srsly. I'm rooting for Rafa, Andy Murray, Feli Lopez, Safin, Nalby, and Tipsarevic. Hopefully, one of them can take the title home.

Here's an article about Ana. I thought it was interesting since we've been discussing her personality and her media image in French Open thread.

From the Ivanovic article:
I could be wrong, but wasn't this a foregone conclusion before the final? I thought that whichever "Vic" won the semi was going to be number one (either after the win itself or a win combined with Kuznetsova's loss.) Just a niggle...
edited for clarity.

The day after a grandslam is always a bit of a letdown but the turnover between RG and Wimby is so short it makes it easier.
And thanks to the TTC I'll catch some additional grass tournaments. I'll go check but I know I can count on all of you for the most accurate info!

tikigirl, Mary told a story about Safina congratulating Ana for the number one ranking or telling her she would get it or something after the semis. If she didn't know, she should have. I just looked at the Stella draws. Nadal is playing doubles with Mariano Hood. The name was familiar, but I couldn't quite remember. I googled... Argentine doubles player banned for substances in 2005. Interesting indeed. I was hoping for a Feli Lopez/Rafa pairing in doubles. 'Cause I'm pathetic

Man, Max isn't even making it through qualifying on grass anymore. It is so very, very sad to watch a fave go down like this. Now how is that pathetic, I ask you? Of course I still yearn for the Lopez/Verdasco doubles days. That was some serious pretty. eta: Oh boy: I said that before I realized they had paired up for this tournament. *shakes hand at sky* I hate you Cablevision! Why can't I have TTC?
