Just an FYI (I swear this is not a paid endorsement), The Wimby website Wimbledon.org, offers a multi-court video feed here for $24.99. If you feel like spending the money, I highly recommend it. I have gotten it the last two years and it was great. They have feeds from 8 different courts, and if it's like it was last year, by the end of every day, they upload matches from that day that you can watch on demand. This is the first year that I'll be able to watch Wimby on TTC and I may still get it for the multiple courts. I second the endorsement. I used this last year and it was heaven! Worth every penny. Plus I believe many of the matches were still available on the site up to 90 days after the finals, so whenever I was in a tennis lull or couldn't access the current tourny, I could re-live Wimby ;D

I have a MAC too or else I would totally get the Wimbledon package. Last year I actually went to school late at night to watch an archived match from that day on the PC (Gasquet v. Roddick) because my Tivo didn't record it. I have a windows media converter on my computer that lets me watch the free archived matches on that site now, but I'm guessing it wouldn't work for live.
ETA: The try it now for free is working on my Mac, but again I don't know if archived is different from live. I'll buy a day's pass once the tournament starts and let people know if it works.

My work system blocks streaming video. But not porn. Theoretically, I can look at all the porn sites I want, but nothing that launches a media player.

Do any of you Mac users know if the new Macs that can run Windows have solved the compatibility problems re. Media players etc? I used to be a Mac devotee until my office provided me with a laptop, and I would still get a Mac if I ever need to get my own, but the compatibility issues sound like a pain in the ass.

I'm on a Mac and TTC-less, too, but my husband might let me use his PC for the Wimby fortnight.
I thought I'd throw out another random question - this time about players' websites. Any that stand out for people here? I personally don't really like too much flash or activity, which I've seen on a couple, or rampant self-admiration such as Beaker's.
Anyone??

Agreed on the BBC Wimbledon package - I got it already this year. The commentary is so indescribably superior to anything we get here. And so much quieter! Favorite matches...for some reason my mind wandered back to the Edberg/Becker 3 consecutive Wimbledon finals, 88-90. That was where Stefan proved not only that he could win the big one (no one really cared about his Australian open title on grass I guess) but that he could beat Boris, about whom he was supposed to have a mental block. How much fun those were. I also enjoyed it when Hana Mandlikova beat Chris and Martina in succession to win the 85 USO. Good times, fabulous tennis. I only was able to follow the Goran/Rafter match on my cell because I had to work, but I remember feeling sorry for Rafter. I liked him. Since then - I don't know, I'm happy when someone I like wins, but I'm happier if it's easy. Like Roger winning the USO over Hewitt in 04. You could just sit there and watch his incredible shots. If I don't care either way I like a close match as much as anyone

The one older match that sticks in my mind was Edberg-McEnroe at Wimbledon, where Stefan won 7-5/7-6/7-6.
Being that long ago (and me being barely a teenager at the time), I don't actually remember any particular points in the match, other than it was just very interesting to watch, even if I was rooting for McEnroe at the time.

Aw, damn, got my hopes up when I heard about the Wimbledon live thing, but of course they use Windows Media Player, which won't connect at my workplace. Why can't sites just use flash players? I might just end up trying to kajigger my hours around so I can be home to see a few of the big matches.
As a side note, I've been following the live scoreboard at Queen's and was delighted to see a 17 year old player by the name of Kittiipong Wachiaramanowong playing. He lost in straight sets, but I desparately hope he has a lot of success in the future if only to watch umpires and newscasters around the world try to wrap their tongues around that name.

I have a Windows machine at work, and I use VLC to play video streams. It worked just fine for the free Wimbledon live feed. I don't know if it will work for the subscriber feed, but VLC does work on every OS (Mac, Linux, Windows) so it might be worth it to test it out.
That is a great name. Though it doesn't seem that difficult to pronounce; it's just very long.

Janko is doing a video blog for Queen's Club. Love the bedhead. ETA: My work system doesn't give me access to install anything either. It's Flash or nothing. Bah.

Was that Ancic walking through shirtless? Because damn, that's a lot of pretty in that hallway.
The schedule for Queens tomorrow looks fantastic: Gulbis/Murray, Tipsarevic/Djokovic, PHM/Hewitt, Gasquet/Ancic, Mahut/Nalbandian, Roddick/Fish, Nadal/Nishikori. That would be a great day to attend the tournament.

I just tried buying grounds passes for the USO and there aren't any available. Either the ticket brokers snatched em all up or them suckers just sold like hotcakes.

Does anyone know what rankings are used to determine qualifying for Wimbledon? I had just seen an article about Jeremy Chardy and Carla Suarez Navarro being given wild cards, so my guess is their French Open results aren't considered.
